Azets strengthens its corporate finance team with the appointment of a director

Azets, one of the UK’s top ten accounting, tax and business advisory firms and the largest regional professional services firm for SMEs in Europe, today announced the appointment of David Simmons. David joins North West’s corporate finance team as a director.

David Simmons is a Chartered Accountant who has specialized in corporate finance work for over 20 years, advising owners and directors of a wide range of private and listed companies operating in a variety of different industries as part of sale, merger, acquisition and fundraising activities.

The appointment will bolster Azets’ corporate finance capabilities in the North West as it seeks to grow its team after a record start to 2021. Over the past year, Azets has advised 12 transactions in the region, including family owners of The Wateredge Inn when it was sold to The Inn Collection Group, shareholders of PR Expoxy Systems Limited when it was sold to Vebro Polymers Group, shareholders of home builder Russell Armer when it was sold to Genesis Homes and the sale of Cheshire-based Isotopx to Techcomp Europe.

Rob Richardson, Head of Corporate Finance at Azets in the North West, said: “We are delighted to welcome David to Azets. He is a very experienced advisor with an excellent reputation. His appointment is a tremendous reflection on the growing reputation of Azets and its corporate finance business and marks a step forward as we continue to grow and expand our regional capacity. Our approach is to work alongside our colleagues across all firms to provide comprehensive support to clients throughout their growth journey, helping them realize their ambitions and ultimately exit.

David Simmons commented: “I am delighted to join Azets and be part of the largest regional professional services firm for SMEs across Europe. I have worked with SMEs providing corporate finance advice on fundraising, as well as buying and selling businesses for over 20 years and look forward to using my experience to help SMEs to emerge from the COVID pandemic within the Azets team. ”

Last month, Azets in the North West announced ambitious plans for growth over the next 5 years by more than doubling revenues through a combination of organic growth and compatible acquisitions creating around 100 additional new jobs and bringing turnover to around £45 million. David’s appointment also coincides with the announcement of more than 30 promotions in the region for Azets.

Rob Richardson added, “There has never been a better time to think about joining Azets as we look to capitalize on the growth to date and accelerate the next phase of development. We are actively looking to add talented people to our team in the North West at all levels, from graduates to partners and everything in between. The region is booming thanks in part to top investment and now is the perfect time to join a growing company with ambitious plans.
