A multi-award winning division of regional accounting firm BHP now has over 20 transaction advisory specialists sharing their expertise in all aspects of corporate finance.

Building on 18 months of increased business activity during a global pandemic, BHP Corporate Finance has bolstered its workforce with Will Sykes joining its M&A advisory team and Mathew Oldfield in transaction services. This closely follows the team’s significant headcount growth over the past few years, including two partner appointments in 2019.

After a successful internship year with BHP Corporate Finance in 2018, Will graduated from the University of Leeds before joining the company as part of its graduate recruitment programme. With a year of post-graduate experience in BHP’s audit and tax teams under his belt, he has now joined Corporate Finance on a full-time basis.

Mathew followed a similar journey, training and qualifying with BHP’s audit team before moving into his new role in transaction services in November 2020.

BHP Corporate Finance has a wide range of expertise in the areas of mergers and acquisitions, transaction services and SPA advisory, with seven partners and three directors leading these specialist service lines. The firm also has one of the largest corporate tax advisory firms in the region.

This expertise was recently used to advise Greenhous Group on its sale of Smart Fleet Solutions to the highly acquiring online car dealership Cazoo, and YFM Equity Partners’ investment in marketing automation platform Force24.

Other recent deals include Foresight Group’s investment in Sheffield-based MR Machine Knives and engineering and support services group Pharos on the sale of its power generation division to RSK Group.

Kevin Davies, Partner at BHP Corporate Finance, said: “I am extremely proud of how our team has adapted, grown and succeeded despite the unusual times and different challenges that all businesses are currently facing.

“With the many talented and dedicated people who have recently joined us, we are confident that we will have another strong year with a team fully equipped to meet the growing demands of the trading environment.”

Martin Athey, Transaction Services Partner, added “These recent hires not only demonstrate BHP’s commitment to nurturing and developing its people, but also highlight the specialties, expertise and in-depth strength of all our service lines. “.

BHP Corporate Finance offers a full range of personalized advisory and transaction support services for companies, management teams, investors and lenders.
